OUR MISSION: To improve the quality of lives of children living in homeless shelters in the Greater New York Area.

Recent reports have shown that NYC has hit an all time high in shelter attendance. The average age of the more than 25,000 children who currently find themselves living in a NYC shelter is between 5 and 9 years old. The Eklund|Gomes Foundation will continue to enrich experiences, and improve the qualities of life for NYC's most vulnerable, our city kids with activism, education, and awareness.

Food & Clothing Initiatives

As we build awareness and devote our time to supporting innovative programs that nourish and provide for the over 25,000 NYC children, we will soon announce our partnerships and our involvement.

Supportive Housing Initiatives

We've learned what works. We've learned what the professionals at the Coalition for the Homeless are saying and we support their kind of thinking. As we continue to learn, we will share our knowledge and how you can help.

Education, Mentoring, Fostering Good Will Experiences

We strongly believe that despite the circumstances a child might find themselves in, that education, mentoring and 'just being a child' should never take a back seat and holds the same amount of importance to support.

 OUR STORY

OUR STORY

John Gomes and Fredrik Eklund have worked side by side in the New York City Real Estate market for 10 years. After much deliberation, hard work, and a realization of what has been going on in NYC over the same 10 years with dramatically high homeless situations for children, together they decided it was time to take action and give back. "We both work hard, and we both understand the value of family from different perspecitves, both having a family there for you and not having a family there for you," said co-founder John Gomes. Gomes continued, "Having had our own struggles as teenagers, we wanted to start a special non-profit that was close to our hearts, meaningful and impactful. And who better to protect than children. Nothing is more close to both of us than children." Fredrik agrees adding "life is precious, and if you are in a position to be able to do something for those who cannot, well then you just have to do something." And something they did. The announcement was made at their 10 Year Anniversary event. The Eklund|Gomes Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for children who find themselves in homelessness situations. The organization advocates for innovative charitable programs which offer children assistance with their basic needs including temporary housing, food, clothing, therapies, medicines, education, mentorships, culture and life experiences. In addition we support programs that offer day centers, night centers, outreach services, foster care - services by which show their current impact towards eliminating child homelessness and neglect.
